The Earjeans 365 Collection: #336

Today's jewelry inspiration comes from 2 really cool young ladies :)
One is my jewelry student, Addah. She's 11 years old and very creative. We were working on necklaces and her creativity quickly kicked in as she worked eagerly. Her spark of excitement rejuvenated my love for creating things. God bless the youth!

The color combination inspiration came from my new friend for life, Christina. Thank you girlie!!

Ok so here we go...

Materials

Ruby red pearls
gold seed beads
fishing wire
barrel clasp
findings

This is the first time I used fishing wire and I honestly like it better than what I was using before. Design time for this takes about 20 minutes and seems to go by fast when you're listening to good music :) My alternating pattern for this piece is 1 pearl, 2 seed beads. Necklace is 20" long and has a barrel clasp that's easy to put on/take off.

I made a pair of matching earrings as an added bonus :)

Jewelry set is now available online and makes a great gift this holiday season ;)

Happy Wednesday!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #337

As a kid, I would listen to music and determine if I liked the song based on how it made me feel. Some of my favorite people to listen to were Earth Wind and Fire, Stevie Wonder, Yolanda Adams, Brandy, Boyz II Men, Aaron Hall, Whitney Houston, and many more. I will admit, very humbly, that I just didn't understand Prince. Now I'm talking as a kid, I didn't get him. But I loved the song 1999 (that's the year I graduated High school :) As an adult, I revisited his music because, well he's an amazing musician, songwriter, performer, and all that other good stuff. Plus, all my music friends gave me dirty looks when I would explain what I've just confessed to you, and I was tired of getting "the look", ha!! I am happy to announce that I "get it" now and I'm a fan for life :)

I dedicate these earrings to Prince fans around the world.

#337 Purple Rain Earrings

Our materials:

purple leather
seed beads
plastic ball beads
findings

I wanted to make these kind of long because rain drops travel a long way before they touch the ground. Adding the beads gives the leather a little extra flavor and contrast. Purple is the perfect color to round out the summer and usher in beautiful fall.

So after 15 minutes of creating, this is what I made...

And there you have it!

Happy Tuesday :)

The Earjeans 365 collection: #338

Today's earring inspiration comes from the American game show, Hollywood Squares. (The Game show channel is fun to watch when it's hard for you to sleep :) This show started back in 1965 and featured some of the biggest stars in Hollywood throughout the 60's and beyond. Click here to learn more about the show.

So I call Earring #338 Hollywood Squares

Our materials

wood square beads
turquoise bead chips
findings

Very easy to make. I used 4" head pins to string each bead on and then rounded off the top and attached the ear hook. They take about 15 minutes to make.

Our new earrings:

Happy Monday!

These earrings are now available in my shop

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #339

I'm really excited about today's addition to the Earjeans 365 collection as the inspiration for this piece came to me about 3am! I had a hard time sleeping so I did what I normally do, sat at my jewelry table and stared at my supplies until inspiration sparked. Nine times out of ten, it never fails and this time was no exception :)

So I call addition #339 Morning Inspiration jewelry set

Our materials

Various shades and shapes of wood beads
memory wire (not pictured)
findings

This set takes about an hour to make. (The time went by fast)

Bracelet wraps around most adult size wrists one ring at a time. I used medium size memory wire and strung an alternating pattern of wood beads on it. then closed off the end and attached dark brown wood circle. Then repeated the first step to complete other side.

The earrings I kept very simple as I think this compliments the bracelet and necklace very well.

Necklace is made with large memory wire. I sued the same process on bracelet for the necklace. The pendant piece is the same pattern as the earrings.

I look forward to experimenting more with this style using different beads, colors, etc. This was really fun to make :)

Here's what are new creating looks like....

Happy Sunday!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #340

Today's inspiration comes from someone so special to me. My loving grandpa, Cato.

He is my "go to guy" when I need advice about well, almost anything. I recently had one of those moments where I wasn't sure if my career decisions were the best choice for my future (my fellow full-time musicians & business owners know what I'm talking about) and I needed some of his wisdom. He then told me, in his most sincere voice, that there was no one in this world more excited and proud of what I was doing and he made me promise him that I wouldn't stop no matter what. Needless to say it brought tears to my eyes and I quickly made that promise.

So I dedicate jewelry piece #340 to my grandpa. I love you!!

#340 Just for Him Onyx bracelet

Our materials

black onyx beads
stretch bead cord (not pictured)

Because I like how cool these beads look, I didn't want to use an alternating piece. Some things are better left to stand out by themselves. Kinda like the strong men in our lives who are natural born leaders.

So I strung each bead on the stretch bead cord and then tied a double knot to close it. after cutting the excess cord, I applied a touch of clear nail polish to keep the end from fraying.

our new masterpiece....

If you haven't done it lately, I encourage you to call your father, brother, uncle, grandfather, husband, etc and tell them how much they mean to you...just because :)

Happy Saturday!

(I love that :) and they offer a variety of beauty products that come from all around the world. You can visit the store by clicking here

plastic tube bead (not exactly natural but looks awesome)

After putting the fabric pieces together, I attached the large dark brown wood bead then a smaller reddish-orange wood bead and turquoise bead at the top. These took about 25 minutes to create and are perfect for the fall season.

You match these with many earth tone outfits or even all white (but you'll have to wear it soon before Labor Day comes :)

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #343

Today's jewelry piece is in loving memory of Mr. Nick Ashford of Ashford and Simpson. For those of you who don't know about him, Nick Ashford, was one-half of the legendary Motown songwriting duo Ashford & Simpson. They wrote many soulful classics for artists like Diana Ross and Marvin Gaye and funk hits for Chaka Khan and others. He died this past Monday at the age of 70.

Though they had some of their greatest success at Motown with classics like "Ain't No Mountain High Enough" and "Reach Out And Touch Somebody's Hand" by Ross and "You're All I Need To Get By" by Gaye and Tammi Terrell, Ashford & Simpson also created classics for others, like the anthem "I'm Every Woman" by Khan (and later remade by Whitney Houston).

Jewelry piece #343 "Nick Ashford Black Onyx bracelet"

Our materials....

square black onyx beads
8mm round black onyx beads
jewelry wire
barrel clasp

I used 2 strands of 19-strand jewelry wire to create this bracelet for extra security as these beads are a little heavier than I usually work with. I kept the design for this simple by alternating a square bead and ball bead. (Men are very simple especially when it comes to their taste in jewelry...well, at least the men I know are :)

our new bracelet...

May the memory of love, music, & life of Mr. Nick Ashford forever live on in the hearts of all those he's touched.

Happy Wednesday!

The Earjeans 365 collection: #344

The 80s were a great time for fashion experimenting. Cut-off jeans, over sized sweat shirts with leggings and leg warmers, big hair, large geometric shaped jewelry pieces...plenty of fun things to play with. (also funny to look at 30 years later, lol!)

So today's earrings celebrate all of the '80s babies around the world

#344 The 80s baby Triangle Dangle earrings

Our materials...

fresh water pearl
black and orange agate bead
light brown leather fabric

For these earrings, I decided to glue the two piece of fabric together. (it's nice to switch it up a bit :) Then attached the jump ring and my strung beads with ear hook. Design time for these is about 20 minutes. But I let the earrings sit for 2 hours to be sure glue is set.

Drum roll.......

Happy Tuesday!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #345

For those of you who don't know, Mood's Music is the best place in Atlanta to get great independent music from around the world. Located in the heart of Little 5 Points, it's the perfect place to chill while listening to the latest music releases or catch live performances by artists both local and passing through.

This past Sunday, a group of my best friends and I paid a visit to Darryl (owner of Moods) for an exclusive pre-release listening party/meet and greet with DJ/Producer Applejac. The place was packed with people and we had a great time laughing, listening, and learning the man behind the music, DJ Applejac himself.

Many people have a lot of love for Darryl and Mood's Music because it gives independent artists an outlet to have their music heard and sold. So I would like to dedicate earring #345 to Darryl and Mood's music. May your doors forever remain open :)

Our materials....

brown denim
yellow and orange fabric paint

After putting the fabric pieces together, I hand painted a wavy music staff (5 lines) in orange and painted the word "Moods" in yellow on the staff. These took about 30 minutes to make but a total of 5 hours to dry as design is painted on both sides.

I'm so pleased with how these came out as a lot of love went into making these. I do believe I'm going to keep these for myself and make another pair to sell :)

Our new earrings.....

We love you Darryl!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #346

I woke up this morning with a song on my heart and I was immediately inspired to create today's earrings. So I dedicate earring #346 of the Earjeans 365 Collection to Marknoxx and his song "Around The World"

#346 "Around The World Earrings"

Our materials....

multi color batik fabric
wood beads
findings

I love working with fabrics for jewelry! (sorry I just had to say that ;)
So, I cut my fabric and layered them. Then attached the wood beads on an eye pin (findings) and added the ear hook. Very simple. These took about 25 minutes to create. The colors of this fabric make these perfect for fall.

Wanna see what they look like?

Enjoy this beautiful Sunday and I'll see you tomorrow!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #347

After singing and dancing til my heart was content last night at 595 North for the Spread Love event by DJ Kemit (Atlanta), I had to make today's earrings a tribute to my favorite singer/songwriter, musician, Stevie Wonder.

#347 Golden Lady Dangle earrings

Our materials....

fabric
gold seed beads

This design is fun to create for me :) I've used it before but not with this fabric. Design time for these is about 15 minutes. So after 15 minutes of creating, here is the result...

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #348

Today's jewelry creation is inspired by all the independant music artists I met at the International Soul Music Summit (Atlanta, GA) yesterday. I was blessed to be on a panel of talented & beautiful women to talk about our experience in the music industry and offer any tips of wisdom, advice, etc.

Many things were shared but the over all message from the panel was believe in your dreams and then don't stop until they become a reality.

It takes a lot of courage, the courage of a warrior to follow your dreams so today's piece is dedicated to all the "warriors" of the world.

#348 Unisex Tribal Necklace

Our materials...
bone beads and pendant
black onyx beads
19 strand jewelry wire (2 pieces)
findings

Because of the weight of these beads, I used to strung all the beads on 2 strands of 19-strand jewelry wire. Alternating pattern of bone beads and black onyx ball beads and then I used a barrel clasp to close off.

The finished result....
Happy Friday!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #349

Today's inspiration comes from an unlikely place....my cable t.v.! Well, the problem is there's something wrong with the box so I had to have a new one sent to me. I don't watch it often, but I like to have it on every now and again. So this is in dedication to the copper cable wires attached to my cable box, lol! ( I think they're copper...ha!)
#349 "The copper swirl and glass dangle earrings"

Our materials....
Copper both 20ga and 14ga
Ruby glass beads

First I cut 2 pieces of 14ga wire and made a flat coil pattern and added a loop at the top. Then I wrapped each glass bead with 20ga wire and made a loop at the top to attach the handmade jump ring.

Then I cut 2 pieces of 20ga wire and made ear hooks and sanded the ends down so there were no sharp edges.

The finished work of art...

Happy Thursday everyone! Please leave a comment and let me know what you think :)

The Earjeans 365 Collection #350

Good morning all!

Today's inspiration comes from my wonderful circle of friends. I say this often and I really believe that...I have the best friends in the world! Seriously. From the many words of encouragement, to the "girl, you need to leave him alone" and everything in between, there's nothing like a true friend. So today's jewelry set is called, "The Golden Girls Jewelry set".

Our materials...

gold pearl beads
hematite beads
silver butterfly charm (added this one for you, Celeste :)

I used a bead tray with measurement to keep my sides even. I strung alternating pattern of 2 pearl beads and 1 hematite bead.

I painted a clear coat of nail polish on both sides of the butterfly to keep it shiny and strung in the center of bead design.

Necklace is 24" long and closed off with a barrel clasp. I made a cute pair of 1" pearl earrings to match.

Finished piece
