The Earjeans 365 Collection: #316

As I went through my personal jewelry collection today, I found a really cute earring and necklace and earring set I bought several years back at an outdoor music festival in downtown Atlanta. At the time, it was my favorite jewelry piece in my collection. To make a long story short, About the 2nd or 3rd time I wore it, one of my earrings broke :( I think I was holding some one's 5 month old...enough said, lol!

I was so hurt, but I held on to it because I just couldn't let it go. (Ha, I didn't know that several years later I'd be running my own jewelry company.)

So today, I remixed my lovely set and I'm looking forward to wearing it somewhere soon.

I added a few more wood beads and kept the orange ones from the original set. I also attached a new jewelry cord made of black suede (the original was thin black leather) And this is how it looks now...





I'm so glad I didn't throw this away!

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #317

When it comes to shopping for fall/winter clothes, it's really tempting to stick with dark/neutral colors (grey, black, khaki, camel, brown, etc). While it's not popular to wear really bright colors, deep shades of pink, red, blue, and orange are great ways to add a bit of color without being over the top. Today's earrings are a great example of pairing a neutral color with a touch of color.

This piece of leather is a camel color with dark charcoal markings on it.
Design time is about 20 minutes.

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #318

After my early flight home, Sunday morning, I sat at my jewelry table to make a new pair of earrings. While doing so, I listened to motivational speaker, Zig Ziggler, talk about goal setting, having balancing life, and the attitude it was going to take to "win" in every area of one's life. It was time for me to step out-of-the-box and make some new things happen. So Earring #318 are called "Out The Box".

Our materials

After putting fabric pieces together, I painted glitter dots on half of the box then let it dry for 1 hour. I repeated the same steps for the other side. When both sides were dry, I added the beads and findings.

They took about 2 1/2 hours to make including drying time.

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #319

Today is another catch up day (sorry *blushes*) so there will be 3 new posts-one for Saturday, Sunday, and today. Here we go!

Saturday's earring creation was inspired by my love for what I do. So I dedicate these to all those around the world who love what they do. I also encourage those who don't love their work to identify the type of worked they'd like to do and make a plan of action to go for it. Your stress levels will go down tremendously. I know from personal experience. Digressing....

These simple yet elegant earrings took about 15 minutes to make but will last for a long time.

Rose Quartz is a gemstone that is associated with love. It is said to help the user feel a strong sense of self-worth, therefore being worth love.

I think I'll do this same style with Tiger's Eye and Carnelian gemstones as well. I'll post them on face book and Etsy so you can see them :)

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #320

Last night, I enjoyed a beautiful evening out with friends as we celebrated one of the many accomplishments of, Arrested Development's own dancing/singing diva, Montsho Eshe. Her lovely face along with the braiding genius of Naeemah Serwaa can now be seen on the cover of Beyond Braids magazine! (wha hoo!) click above to see the cover

The celebration took place at Pampered Nail & Body Spa , downtown Atlanta on Nelson street. As I walked to and from my car, I couldn't help but notice the cool, crisp night air, and rustling of fallen leaves dancing down the street. It was a beautiful reminder that fall is soon approaching. So I decided to spend a little more time downtown and walked with a friend to a nearby pub. A plate of good food and fun conversation later, we were back on the side walk and my friend stretches his neck out an sings "I looove fa aa aaalll" lol! (you had to be there) It was hilarious to say the least. So without naming names (smile) I dedicate jewelry piece #320 to you, ______ (you know who you are)! I call it the "I love Fall" jewelry set.

I cut a long piece of fishing wire and strung each bead on as I desired alternating a glass bead with a silver bead. It took about 20 minutes to make- including the earrings.

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #321

So today's post will be published a little later in the day than I would have liked because I finally went to the gym early in the morning,lol! I've been trying to catch this Zumba class for the past 3 weeks and today, I made it. I also took a body pump class so after 2 hours of working out, I was completely drained.

As I drove home, I knew I needed to make a piece of jewelry to tell you about, but all I could think about was sleep. Then the light bulb lit up...make a copper jewelry piece! Copper is said to be an energy conductor and Lord knows I needed it.

So I call piece #321 The Energy Conductor necklace.

suede cord

I was taught this wire wrapping technique by Elinaj, owner of Akashic Jewelry

After securing the agate, I strung the pendant on a suede cord and knotted each end.

The Earjeans 365 Collection: #322

Ever heard the expression "Sticks and stones may break my bones but words will never hurt me"? Honestly, I don't know who said that, but I know many folks who would beg to differ (myself included). My mom told me to say this whenever I was teased at school but even as a kid, that line never made sense to me, lol! Anyway...I took a look through my beads n things collection and immediately thought about this line when I saw these beads so I decided to put 'em together :)
